About Us

Sports coverage has a telling habit. A player drops 30 points in a loss and the story writes itself, about the performance, about the star, about the narrative everyone already had going in. The assists that did not come. The defensive breakdowns that made those 30 points possible. The advanced splits that tell you whether the performance was real or a product of matchup. All of it gets filed under supporting detail and cut for space.

That is the gap Match VS Player Stats was built to fill.

We launched in New York in April 2026 because we believed, and still believe, that the full statistical record of a game is a story in itself, and that most sports coverage never gets around to telling it. Not because the data is not there. Because going through it properly takes longer than a deadline allows. We gave ourselves the deadline to do it right.

What We Cover

We cover the NFL, NBA, MLB, WNBA, FIFA, cricket, hockey, and more. For every game we publish, readers get three layers: a factual, detailed match recap; a player-by-player statistical breakdown; and an analytical read that puts the numbers in the context of the season, the matchup, and the sport. Those three things together are what we consider a complete piece of sports journalism. We do not publish takes. We publish what the data shows and what it means.

How Every Article Gets Made

Every statistic on this site is verified against official league sources and primary data before it goes into a sentence. That is not a disclaimer, it is the actual production process. If a number is disputed or unclear, it gets flagged, sourced again, or cut. A wrong stat is worse than no stat. We operate accordingly, on every article, without exception.

Match VS Player Stats is founded and edited by Cynthia D. McLaren, a New York-based sports journalist who has spent over a decade covering professional leagues. She edits every article published under this outlet’s name. A dedicated team of researchers and editors supports the reporting and verification process on every piece published here. The standards on this page are what they all work to.

Our Corrections Policy

Every outlet gets something wrong. When we do, we correct it directly on the page, note the correction clearly, and update the record. We do not delete and republish. We fix it and we explain it. Readers who catch an error can reach us through our Contact page and we will respond.

Why New York

Sports arguments in this city have always been settled the same way: with the actual record. We were built here. That instinct is in everything we publish.
